Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
- 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper
Salad ingredients
- 1/4 red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons chopped kalamata olives
Toppings
- 2 pita bread rounds (handful of salad)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat grill to medium (375º-425º) and carefully oil the grate.
Step 2
In a bowl, add lamb, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper. Gently combine, being careful not to over mix.
Step 3
Divide and shape into four equal-size patties. Using your thumb, create a dent in the center of each patty, which allows for more even cooking.
Step 4
Grill 3-4 minutes each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160º. During the last 2 minutes, add pitas to the grill and cook for 1 minute on each side. Remove and set aside. Remove burgers from grill, tent with aluminum foil and let rest for 5 minutes.
Step 5
In a small bowl, combine salad ingredients and lightly toss. To assemble, add a small handful of salad to the pita, then add the burger.
All recipe ingredients should be cooked to a safe internal temperature according to USDA guidelines. After preparing a recipe, please store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
