Directions
To protect the 100% natural flavor of El Diablo Mesquite Charcoal and the environment, petroleum-based lighter fluids are not recommended. If used follow the directions on the can and never use gasoline. To get best results and enjoy the full natural flavor of El Diablo Mesquite Charcoal, the following ways to light the charcoal are recommended. Best: Stack El Diablo Mesquite Charcoal in the shape of a hollow cone or pyramid. In the hollow, place paper wadded up into a ball and saturated with cooking oil (corn or vegetable) and light. Good: Use a chimney style charcoal starter (vertical tube-type) that uses paper as fuel and light. Good: use an electric starter. After allowing El Diablo Mesquite Charcoal to get red hot, spread the hot wood lumps evenly. When the natural wood lumps are grey or white around the edges, they are ready for grilling. If the smoke is white the fire is right.
