Directions Microwave Directions 1. Mix 2 1/2 cups water and 1 cup rice in microwavable bowl. Add 2 tsp. butter or margarine and 1/2 tsp. salt, if desired. Cover. 2. Microwave on high 5 minutes. Stir. Microwave on medium (50% power) 20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of the water is absorbed, stirring occasionally. 3. Let stand in microwave 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving. Microwave ovens vary; adjust cooking times as needed. Cooking times are based on an 1100 watt microwave oven. Stove Top Directions 1. Bring water to boil in saucepan. Add butter or margarine and salt, if desired. 2. Stir in rice. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of the water is absorbed. 3. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
